Jodhpur: If you aspire to teach in a school affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), here’s a piece of news for you. The CBSE has now made it mandatory for all to pass a Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) before they take to the classroom blackboard. Currently, candidates who are graduates and have successfully completed B.Ed are recruited as teachers.
Speaking to Dainik Bhaskar, Dr. Ashok Gupta, member, CBSE Executive Council confirmed that passing the CTET would be mandatory for anyone aspiring to teach in classes I to VIII in a CBSE school.
The CTET, which is to be conducted on June 2, has been divided into two papers of 90 minutes each.
The first paper will comprise questions on the subject in which the candidate has specialised while the second paper will asses the aspirant’s general knowledge.
A candidate must secure a minimum of 60 per cent marks to qualify the CTET.
Taking about the CTET, Neera Singh, Principal, Rajmata Krishna Kumari Girls' Public School, said the test will add on to a teacher’s credentials and qualifications.
